Recommended Albums

Hot Chip – In Our Heads (Domino)

Their recent appearance on Jools Holland provided us with a tantalising sneak-peak of some of the new songs from the album.

Liars – WIXIW (Mute)

It’s clear that WIXIW is a very different record to what has gone before and that it’ll likely become to be known as the band’s ‘electronic’ record.

PS I Love You – Death Dreams (Paper Bag Records)

PS I Love You’s debut album, Meet Me at the Muster Station, was a stunning first effort, and its follow-up is another great addition to the 21st Century revisiting of the 1990s

Fixers – We’ll Be The Moon (Vertigo)

Fixers have produced an astral release which borrows from indie rock, electronica and avant-garde.

Niki & The Dove – Instinct (Mercury/Sub Pop Records)

This sparkling debut from the future pop duo proves a prolific string of EP releases doesn’t always lead to a disappointing full-length.

Jack White – Blunderbuss (XL Recordings)

An unsurprisingly brilliant effort from a man who, as of yet, hasn’t made a bad record

Spiritualized – Sweet Heart Sweet Love (Domino)

‘Sweet Heart Sweet Love’ is definitely not their best work, but this is a step back in the right direction and a reminder of how influential Spiritualized are.

Errors – Have Some Faith in Magic (Rock Action Records)

Whatever genre it is, acid-house, new-age electronica or post-rock, Errors are rocking it and rocking it hard.

Grimes – Visions (4AD)

That dark electronica which Boucher creates in Visions has a cybotic ambience to it, a style which is somewhat alien in its construction.

Azari & III – Azari & III (Loose Lips)

Some of these songs have been hanging about for a couple of years but are now consolidated within a pretty strong debut.
