PJ Harvey - Let England Shake Artwork

In a rather predictable announcement, Lauren Laverne earlier today revealed all 12 of the albums nominated for this year’s Mercury Prize.

The only “unexpected” inclusion we can see is Ghostpoet getting the nod for his excellent debut album, Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam, – oh, and token jazz guy Gwilym Simcock – more surprising was the absence of Wild Beasts!

The full list of nominated albums is below:

Adele – 21
Anna Calvi – Anna Calvi
Elbow – Build a Rocket Boys!
Everything Everything – Man Alive
Ghostpoet – Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam
Gwilym Simcock – Good Days at Schloss Elmau
James Blake – James Blake
Katy B – On a Mission
King Creosote & Jon Hopkins – Diamond Mine
Metronomy – The English Riviera
PJ Harvey – Let England Shake
Tinie Tempah – Disc-Overy

The overall winner of the 2011 Prize will be announced at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show, which will be broadcast live on BBC Two and 6 Music on Tuesday 6 September 2011.
