Gruff Rhys To Take Over Hotel For ‘Hotel Shampoo’ Launch

February 1, 2011 by

Gruff Rhys is set to launch his new album, Hotel Shampoo, by taking over an entire hotel in Blackpool for the night.

The takeover takes place on 13th February at The Gresham Hotel, Blackpool where guests will get to watch a concert in the ballroom, featuring Gruff Rhys, Y Niwl and DJ H Hawkline.

Also included is a bedroom for the night, breakfast on the morning of 14th February and a signed CD copy of Hotel Shampoo.

Gruff Rhys said of the takeover: “The Gresham Hotel is to Welsh pop music what the Hilton, Las Vegas was to Elvis & co. It was opened in 1988 by the most successful Welsh language pop duo of all time, Tony ac Aloma. Having sold tens of thousands of records in the 1960’s the pair fled Wales to avoid the pressures of fame and set up The Gresham as a venue where they could play in perpetuity, welcome fans and invite other popular Welsh acts to perform. It is therefore a great honour to be allowed to celebrate the release of my new album, Hotel Shampoo, at this hallowed venue.”
