Mercury Music Prize 2009 Nominees Announced

The shortlist for the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize 2009 has been announced today.

The 12 nominated albums by UK and Irish artists were announced today (21st July) by Lauren Laverne at London’s Hospital Club. The winning album will be announced at a ceremony on 8th September.

The shortlist is:

Bat For Lashes – ‘Two Suns’
Florence And The Machine – ‘Lungs’
Friendly Fires – ‘Friendly Fires’
Glasvegas – ‘Glasvegas’
The Horrors – ‘Primary Colours’
La Roux – ‘La Roux’
Led Bib – ‘Sensible Shoes’
The Leisure Society – ‘Sleeper’
Lisa Hannigan – ‘Sea Saw’
Kasabian – ‘West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum’
Speech Debelle – ‘Speech Therapy’
Sweet Billy Pilgrim – ‘Twice Born Men’
