Of Montreal Collaborate With Solange Knowles On New Album

January 6, 2010 by

of Montreal have unveiled details of their forthcoming album, including a collaboration with Solange Knowles.

The album will be potentially called either ‘False Priest’ or ‘The Controller Sphere’ and is set for release in late Summer/early Autumn.

R n b star Janelle Monae will also feature on the album, more details of other potential collaborations are yet to be confirmed, as is electronic wiz Jon Brion’s involvement on production duties pending an experimental recording session this Spring.

Commenting on the collaboration, Barnes says:

“Maybe it will happen. I’d love to do it, it would be a fun experience. It’s just something she dropped and hasn’t really developed. I wonder about it, too, because I don’t know how good I am at writing songs for other people. When I heard that she said that, I thought, ‘Oh, I should try to get something going.’ I started writing this song, and then next thing I know, it’s so weird that she would never in a million years listen to it, let alone record it! It’s a challenge for me.”

When asked about the album’s sound Barnes added “We’re going to try to do something closer to the kind of bands that Curtis Mayfield or Stevie Wonder had in the ’70s,” Barnes says.
