Standon Calling 2012 Festival Preview

June 21, 2012 by

Hertfordshire’s Standon Calling festival is back for another knees-up this year, from August 3rd to 5th in Standon Lordship (a rather lovely 16th century manor house and surrounding grounds). As ever, the festival organisers are pulling together a playful and intimate three-day party, with everything from majorly talented bands and DJs to an outdoor swimming pool and series of neuron-tingling workshops and talks. Oh, and super-late licensed bars.

Headliners include Death In Vegas, beatboxer extraordinaire Beardyman and feel-good factor experts Fat Freddy’s Drop. !!! (Chk Chk Chk) and flying over from America to play the festival too, while acts like Willy Mason, Casiokids and Julio Bashmore, Toddla T and Shy FX (as part of the AudioDoughnuts dance stage takeover on the Saturday night) will also take to the stage.

As is becoming part of its trademark, fancy dress is pretty much guaranteed to make a big appearance this year: the theme is ‘Journey to the Ends of the Earth’, so get those creative hats on and start getting some ideas together. Day tickets are going for £25 to £39, two-day passes £78 and a full weekend pass £99 – click here for more information and to nab one if you want to witness the festival’s Dog Show (!), Groove Garden and Salon-sponsored cultural talks on top of the ace bands. Head here for more general and practical information about the festival.
