The music world has been lining up to pay tribute to Les Paul, who died on Thursday aged 94.

Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash described the music idol as “A shining example of how full one’s life can be”, and “an exceptionally brilliant man”.

Joe Satriani described Les Paul as “The original guitar hero”, with Keith Richards admitting, “We must all own up that without Les Paul, generations of flash little punks like us would be in jail or cleaning toilets,”

Paul died of complications arising from pneumonia in New York.
