Preppie-pop outfit Vampire Weekend have revealed they are recording their second album.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly frontman Ezra Koeing said “For the last month or so, it’s just been us by ourselves in this small studio, working every day.”

The new album is to be produced by Rostam Batmanglij, who also plays keyboard in Vampire Weekend. “It’s definitely going to be a recognizably Vampire Weekend sound, but there are going to be new sounds,” Koenig said.

“We’re trying to challenge ourselves not to use the same bag of tricks that we used on the first album – different instruments, stuff like that.”

Vampire Weekend have already debuted one new song. The group appeared on American television show ‘Late Night With
Jimmy Fallon’ last year, and chose to premiere new track ‘White Sky’.

The album is due for release later this year.
